BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (BCIP)

The Jharkhand Biodiversity Board (JBB) currently offers an internship program on biodiversity (BCIP), providing students and young professionals with valuable hands-on experience in biodiversity conservation and management. This program aims to foster a deeper understanding of biodiversity principles, practices, and policies, and to equip interns with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to biodiversity conservation efforts.

OBJECTIVES:

-         To provide practical experience in biodiversity conservation and management

-         To enhance knowledge and skills in biodiversity research, policy, and practice

-         To promote collaboration and networking among biodiversity professionals

-         To support the development of future leaders in biodiversity conservation

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :

The period of internship shall be for three month. During the period of internship; interns will get a stipend of one time lumsum Rs. 6000/- (Rs. Six Thousand) only for three months. In addition, interns will be paid TA/DA as applicable to level 4 employees in Jharkhand Govt.

For this internship, major duties will include, but are not limited to collect the name & photo of the species with GPS coordinates other than the species documented in the existing Peoples Biodiversity Register (PBR) concerned local Gram panchayat or any other topic related to biodiversity as directed.

Ø The internship is educational in nature and cannot be made basis for any in employment with the JBB or anywhere else

Ø The education received by the intern from the internship is for the express benefit of the Intern.

Ø The stipend of Rs.6000/- will be paid after submitting the report & its acceptance by JBB and successful completion of the Internship. This amount will be onetime payment after the completion of internship.

Ø The TA/DA will be paid after proper submission of document with the TA bill in prescribed format.

Ø The intern will receive direct and close supervision by Member Secretary, JBB or Officer Authorized by Member Secretary.

Ø JBB may at any time in its sole discretion, terminate the internship without notice or cause.

Ø Intern will maintain a regular internship schedule determined by the intern and her/his supervisor.

Ø Intern will demonstrate honesty, punctuality, courtesy, cooperative attitude, proper health and grooming habits, appropriate dress and a willingness to learn.

Ø Intern will obey the policies, rules and regulations of the JBB and comply with the JBB practices and producers.

Ø Intern will furnish JBB with all necessary information pertaining to internship, including related assignments and reports. The report shall contain the list of species as per class and category.

Ø Transportation to and from the internship field visit is the responsibility of the Intern. TA/DA will be paid only if the intern comes to JBB, office in Ranchi from his/her assigned place.

Ø Intern assumes all of the risks of participating in the internship program. In consideration of the opportunity afforded to the intern to participate in the internship program, Intern hereby agrees that he/she, his/her assignees, heirs, guardians and legal representatives, will not make a claim against JBB or state government, or either of their officers or staffs collectively or individually, or any of its employees, for the injury or death to Intern or damage to his/her property, however caused, arising from his/her participation in the internship ram.

INTERNS UNDER THE BOARD :

The Board has selected 90 students for the Biodiversity Conservation Internship Programme (BCIP) who are being deputed at their area of choice under concerned Divisional Forest Officers -cum- Nodal Officer, Jharkhand Biodiversity Board.
